I have created a new set up of 3CX/Twilio using Twilio Auto setup in 3CX. Voice is working with no issue, but SMS is not working. Twilio is receiving messages as shown in their message log but not posting HTTP Request to 3CX. If i change the webhookup temporarily to Webhookup.site then Twilio does post message there. I have checked all the settings and i don't see any issues with the set up. Can someone point me to the right direction as i am completely lost?

Twilio support has confirmed that inbound SMS webhooks are being sent successfully to the 3CX-generated SMS webhook URL and that Twilio is receiving successful HTTP 200/204 responses from 3CX.

This means:

  • Twilio receives the SMS
  • Twilio delivers the webhook to 3CX
  • 3CX accepts the webhook request
However, the inbound SMS still does not appear in 3CX for the assigned destination, even when SMS forwarding is set to a single user extension instead of a queue.

So the remaining issue appears to be inside 3CX after the webhook is received.

Hello,

Is the DID defined in the PBX the exact same way as Twillio sends it? What PBX destination is set for the SMS?

Yes DID is defined in E164 format. Voice is working fine with the same DID. Calls go to IVR and we have set Forward SMS to my extension for testing purpose.

Try the following:

Change the DID inside your Twilio trunk and add an extra digit. Save the trunk. Then go back into the trunk and correct the number.
Set the default route of the trunk to be your extension. Try to send an SMS again and see if that works.

I added an extra zero to the main trunk number and then added the number to DID list. I still wsn't able to receive text message.

If you can see the message being delivered from the Twilio logs in the portal but you cannot receive it in 3CX then you will need to create a ticket so our support team can take a look at your configuration.
