Good morning.

I have two extension that when they role to voicemail, be it from an external OR internal call, the greeting plays, you hear the beep and the call drops. I have verbose debugging on and it indicates normal call clearing, stating that the user hung up. I am unsure which side it is indicating a hangup but since it comes from local I believe this indicates that the voicemail box hung up. There is no indication as to why. We're running a Debian instance of v16 SP1. It happens both on calls from the local lan of the phones/phone system as well as externally sourced calls.

I have deleted and recreated the problem extensions, both by exporting and reimporting as well as deleting fully and recreating and the issue reoccurs as soon as the extension is recreated. It does NOT seem to happen with new extensions. Right now I have worked around the issue for one user by sending no answer callers to another extension which forwards the voicemail to the email. However, the user doesn't like this very much and wants to just have voicemail on the phone. I'm not inclined to ask her to change extensions to one that works as I have just had a second extension develop the same behavior.

Snippet from the logs. In the below, my extension was 204 and the extension called was 203.

07/30/2019 7:44:40 AM - Removing leg L:516.1[Extn:204]
07/30/2019 7:44:40 AM - L:516.1[Extn:204]: Terminating targets, reason: SIP ;cause=200 ;text="User hangup"
07/30/2019 7:44:40 AM - Leg L:516.1[Extn:204] is terminated: Cause: BYE from local
07/30/2019 7:44:40 AM - Call(C:516), Extn:204 on entry: DlgInfo(516-2141/Terminated / I)

Hi @c.holloway

Might be a good idea to check the voicemail folder on the machine, for the problematic extensions. Clear them out of any files they may contain and try again. Check the permissions of the folders that they match the same permissions on good extensions and that phonesystem user can write to them.

@JohnS_3CX

Thank you for that tip! It was a permissions issue, when i did an ls -l I received the below showing that root had taken ownership of the folders for the affected voicemail. A "chown -R phonesystem:phonesystem foldername" fixed the issue and got things working again. I really appreciate the help!

root@webb:/var/lib/3cxpbx/Instance1/Data/Ivr/Voicemail/Extensions# ls -l
total 24
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jan 8 2019 100
drwxr-xr-x 2 phonesystem phonesystem 4096 Jul 29 10:50 200
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 30 07:40 201
drwxr-xr-x 2 phonesystem phonesystem 4096 Jul 29 16:14 202
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 30 07:40 203
drwxr-xr-x 2 phonesystem phonesystem 4096 Jul 26 15:25 205

Glad to help! So I imagine you can leave voicemail successfully now yes?

Yes everything is working properly after correcting the permissions. Thanks again.
