Hi,

We are using 3cx webclient with Chrome latest version (Version 85.0.4183.83 (Official Build)) for one of out projects. Everything is running smoothly on approx. 40 working stations, but after a couple of days some agents/ accounts lost audio and sound with Chrome when logged in 3cx webclient. In case we change the browser to Mozilla everything is back to normal.

Any suggestions what might cases this issue?

Some additional notes:
1) Microphone and Sound are enabled/ allowed in Chrome settings for the respective 3cx webclient url;
2) Audio and sound are working properly on every other app on the respective computers;
2) Chrome is latest version (Version 85.0.4183.83 (Official Build);
3) The alternative Mozilla Firefox is again the latest version;

Best regards,
PMarinov

we are seeing the exact same issue. we have had NO server or firewall changes
Same computer works with safari but no audio with chrome for external calls.
Chrome still has audio for internal calls

iPhone client and windows clients are all fine. Something has broken with the latest version of chrome. The issue is the same on a mac and windows device

Can you show us your firewall rules? (the ones for the 3CX host machine only)

We are having this issue as well. I thought I figured a way around it until uses came in today only to find out it stopped

My users are experiencing this same issue on at least two different PBXs. Chrome and 3CX are both on the latest versions.

this is clearly a chrome issue related to the latest update

I've tried using Edge and Firefox as well. Same issues. My PC/Microphone/browser mix work just fine on other instances of 3CX that are hosted in the same fashion (GCP) and on the same 3CX software version.

I am having the same issue with our 3CX install. Like the OP said its working for me on Firefox but not on chrome. I do not have the following hot fix installed

https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/chrome-edge-hotfix/

After production hours today i will be installing to see if this fixes the issue. This specifically names comparability issues with version 85 of chrome and that's what i am running so i am hopeful it will work.

Hi, we have installed the latest updates and this has made no difference. I've opened a case on this issue as I agree with NicoC above, I think it's clearly an incompatibility with the latest Chrome release. 3CX really need to be on this if they are moving away from the desktop client in favour of the web client & chrome plugin.

We installed the update last night after hours and so far today everyone is working great. The issue was resolved for us.

Hmm, that's interesting. I'll mention that in my support case and see if they have any suggestions. Thanks for the update.

No problem. If it helps we are running version 16.0.641.

Just re-tested and the issue is now resolved. We have several customers using 3CX. I updated 1 and tested a second. Doh!

This has now become a disaster recovery scenario for our clients. Incoming calls are okay using the browser extension but outgoing calls are muted. I have had to order desk phones for a client as the office was not able to hear outgoing call and had to revert to using mobile phones.

I am hoping when I install the update tonight the problem goes away.

This show over reliant on technology is a bad idea I guess.

Hi Rob,

This was addressed with a Hotfix of update 5, and also carries over to update 6.

We had to make some changes to accomodate for the enhanced security checks that newer versions of browsers introduced. I'm guessing some of the customers had their browsers auto-update while the PBX was older than the hotfix and hence in those cases it would be expected to stop working.

If anyone else has the issue make sure they are running this build or above and they should be back on track. For anyone else facing issues after the updates (both PBX + browser), please check your firewall forwarding rules for the entire audio ports range, not just the ones the firewall checker shows on screen.
