I've been using 3CX since version 9. I am with a new company and I am working on converting them over. We have a potential for a really nice first account but they are wanting to use some of their existing Avaya SIP phones. Over time we will be swapping them all out for Yealink phones but just to keep costs down just a little bit at the start. We will be purchasing around 100 yealink phones and using 30-40 existing Avaya phones. I found this article which I know is a little out of date. That being said is it possible for me to upload the config files mentioned in this article to a 3cx hosted installation?
Hi there - I would think for 30-40 phones it would be better to buy new phones because there will be a fair amount of admin to set them up and keep them running. I am not sure it warrants the admin cost. But if you want to try anyway:
You will need to setup an SBC and also a local HTTP server. This HTTP server should host the config files. You will have to upgrade the firmware of the phones.
Then point the phones to the local http server for the config and the config file should have the SBC if you are using a hosted 3CX....
The guide will give you a lot of pointers so follow it but with the above caveats. We will update the guide in the coming months but i think you should be able to do it without the guide and if not i suggest buying 30 additional IP phones
