3CX with L2TP VPN

Hello guys,

I am trying to install 3CX on Google VM and set up L2TP VPN with Libreswan. I'm no big network specialist, in fact, i am doing L2TP for the first time with scripts already provided. I am able to either set up a VPN, or 3CX. I cannot get both of them working at the same time. Is it even possible? On the page with installing 3CX on linux, there is line telling "Keep this Linux instance dedicated to 3CX - don’t install other software." Does that mean that there is no possibility of making 3CX and Libreswan working together?

I cannot comment on your L2TP as I have only ever set 3CX up via IPSec tunnels (however the guide does not specify which types of VPN it refers to). It just says a network that is connected via a LAN-2-LAN VPN to another network.

If you get issues and are using a "supported" phone I would simply use the 3CX SBC instead:

Thanks for the reply, I will have a look.

About the SBC, I already tested it, but we have Cisco SPA525 G2 phones, and Gigaset N510, unfortunately none of them supports SBC. That is why i am looking for a different solution that can at least hypotetically connect cloud 3CX and phones without SBC.

Yes then VPN and DHCP Option 66 provisioning is what you want to do:

Or if you don't have DHCP management look at manually provisioning the link into the phones:
https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/cisco-spa501g/

Be aware (at least with the Cisco's) that these phone are very sensitive to firmware version that is used - see the guide for this.

I would advise for future deployments using a Supported Phone with 3CX, especially if you want to use the hosted version it will make deployment far easier.
