Few additional informations about this 3CXPhone release:
Bugfixes
- Bug described as "Bug fix in audio sound device detection". It refers those audio devices having some blanks appended to their names, such as C-Media USB Headphone Set, issue which affected their proper use due to preferences saving/restoring (bug complete description here http://www.3cx.com/forums/audio-devices-aparently-not-saved-on-3cxphone-exit-16423.html )
- Bug described as "Bug in recording when pbx sip port is not default" refers the case when when the PBX is specified as addressort. PBX is part of the local recording filename, therefore the ":" - not allowed as a character in OS filenames - denied proper file creation, reading and UI filtering.

Automatic early media detection
The most significant feature is automatic early media detection; from now on, the old "suppress early media" option is no longer needed and was removed from Preferences dialog. Early media is the sound provided by remote (called) party before call being established, most commonly a ringing tone. However, some providers replace this ringing tone with announcements. With the previous version of 3CXPhone, this early media could be heard either mixed with local ringing sound (supression off) either muted (suppression on). Starting with this release, local ringing sound will be stopped when early media is detected, leaving only this one to be heard.

Audio recording in stereo MP3 format
A new feature is optional recording in stereo MP3 format. Stereo means one partner is heard on the left speaker, the other one into the right speaker. In this way, not only a real-talk effect is produced but, depending by audio player, you may select one or another channel to listen more clearly. The MP3 format allows a smaller filesize fo recording, but also adding of some extradata ("author", "title" ansd so on) in the ID3V1 header, useful in case you prefer to add them as a list in a dedicated MP3 player such Winamp.

Tuning echo using stereo MP3 recording
Contrary of common belief, tuning echo (suppression) doesn't improve your local audio quality, but the one of remote party. By tuning, you avoid your environment to become an "echo generator" for the remote side.

How to tune:
First, click the record button and, in the dialog, select "Record as local files" and "Record as MP3 stereo", then press OK.
Now, using your desired audio devices, make a call to a DR or voicemail and start recording. Don't say anything, be silent End call then listen recording you get, by pressing the record button and selecting it from the dialog.
In case of a perfect isolation (no echo), you should hear the DR only on one speaker, the other being silent.
The worse isolation is (more echo), on the other speaker you will hear delayed, echoed DR's voice.
Overall, what you hear in the recorded file is how the remote side will hear in a normal conversation.

To optimize audio quality, play with microphone level (from the audio mixer, Recording, next to the clock in the taskbar) and 3CXphone's speaker volume (the one in the Preferences dialog).

Usually, such kind of tuning is required in case when a notebook with no headphones and/or mic is used, is less probably to be needed in case of headsets.

Displaying accounts by names instead of extension@addressort

In all previous versions of 3CXPhone, accounts were usually displayed on the top-right corner of the display like this
[email protected] or [email protected]:55060

Supposing this one being an account to Sales-US, on the old, single account versions, there was no really important to see Sales-US or [email protected]:55060 shown.

However, in case of multiple active accounts, it's much difficult to quickly distinguish between [email protected] and [email protected], first being Sales-US and the second Sales-UK.

Therefore, starting from this version, all accounts will be available, in all places in the user interface, by their names. In case when, however, you explicitely need the extension number, you only have to add it into account name, such as 101-Sales-US or 101@Sales-UK.

Remember, to toggle desired active account you only have to click repeatedly the line button; you don't have to do this when dialing from call history, phonebook or BLF/XFers, these contacts already 'know" their account.
