We recently had an episode of loops detected by our 3cx system. From the call logs it looked to have been from an outside number that called a DID and logs then showed the same number calling multiple internal extensions with in milliseconds of each other. I tested a call using my extension to one of the extensions that was repeatedly called and got the same looping results. It was a 603 Loop or Flood Detection but cant seem to figure out why.

I called the extension but the logs show that the DID assigned to that extension was called, which shouldn't have been the case, the next call log show that my DID calls the user's DID while I never reanitied the call (see attached for logs).

How can this be?

So I ended up finding the issue. So the extension that was called did not have a physical phone provisioned, so only 3cx client is used. Now the user HAD an "Away" status rule that would forward the call back to his DID. This resulted in the loop.

If you are experiencing this issue, check the various "Statuses" under users Extension > Forwarding Rules
