Hello 3CX,

You seem to have blocked the ip address of my 3CX server. I can't download any hotfixes and my server shows an error event every two hours:

Request to https://downloads-global.3cx.com/downloads/v180/hotfixes/hotfixes.xml has failed with message $Server returned 'Forbidden' when 'https://downloads-global.3cx.com/downloads/v180/hotfixes/hotfixes.xml' was requested

The URL leads to an access denied/blocked message (see attachments)

Please unblock me asap.

Kind regards,

Marcel van Rheenen

I'm seeing the same thing on a Windows install (v18 SP5), starting on 4/5/2023.

There are some earlier reports:

https://www.3cx.com/community/threa...ng-to-download-mac-desktop-app-hotfix.120121/

https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/event-log-errors-for-product-updater.120226/

The first one says it was client antivirus. I wonder if that may be my case as well, although I'm not getting alerts from Sentinel One. What antivirus are you using?

When I run Wireshark while visiting the Updates page in the 3CX dashboard, I see quite a bit of data exchanged with downloads-global.3cx.com, so it appears that updates would work. Maybe this error is for a secondary URL that is not in use?

It seems to me that 3CX is blocking our IP addresses.

Why?

How to solve?

Marcel

Hi @snoefjol and @mcbsystems ,

Just to shed some light to this, we did not block your IP. That endpoint is temporarily blocked on our end for all.

However, I want to clarify that it does not affect 3CX updates in any way as it is unrelated. Hotfix != Update.

The system periodically checks if there is any hotfix available and it currently cannot, which is the reason you see that in the event viewer, So until we unblock it you can safely ignore that specific error for now.

I hope this clears things up!

Hi @Agathocles Prodromou, thanks very much for that clarification and confirmation. The exclamation point after "Hotfix" confused me for a second until I recognized the programmer's notation for "not equal." So hotfixes and updates are not the same thing at 3CX. Good to know!

Hi @mcbsystems ,

You’re welcome! I apologise if that wasn’t clear. Yes indeed, hotfixes are typically small but important patches that cannot wait for a full release or do not require one.

I am still getting this error, is there any timeframe on when this is going to be unblocked? Or is there anywhere I can turn off the updater?

Hi,

It will probably be unblocked early next year. As previously mentioned though it does not affect in any way the functionality of your system including updates.

Thanks, I understood it wouldn't bother anything, Our tools just show the error everytime it doesn't work. So I was just seeing when it would be removed. Thanks again.
