Per 3cx instructions, to add a phone, we are to log into the web client, open the admin menu, select the user, go to the IP Phone tab, then click 'Configure a phone".

However, if a user already has a phone configured, there seems to be no option or ability to add another phone; what am I missing here? Can a user have one and only one IP phone configured?

Sure, I could use the management console to configure a 'traditional' local or remote phone (connecting via an existing SBC), but it seems there is no way to add/configure a router phone via the management console.

On Prem, v18 Update 8
Trying to add a remote (router phone) to a user who already has another IP phone configured (as the user works from multiple office locations)

If you already have a provisioned phone and try to add a router phone you will not be allowed.
The router phone must be provisioned first and then add another normal phone that will be provisioned behind the router phone.

Thank you for the clarification. I also found this post last evening which explains there is a limit of one router phone per user currently; the user case for this user is that the two locations where they work are remote single-user locations (home offices for one of our execs), so I'll need to deploy a traditional SBC at one of the locations.

Can I assume the current "delete the existing provisioned phone so you can provision a new router phone via WA then readd the prior phone via MC" and "only one router phone may be provisioned for a given user" are limitations which will be addressed in a future version?

this was the same situation I was\am in. while looking to find out how to add a 2nd router phone I ended up here. I think I'll try a separate extension and a forward then for home. hopefully this feature will be revised in future. Actually now i've given this time to sink in i'll use the router phone at home and add a second for the office that can use one of the many other router phones in the office as a sbc.

I'm afraid you cannot add multiple router phones on one extension.
