So I have a client who would like to have their assistant be able to accept and make calls on their behalf from her phone at her desk.

The way I think they would like this setup is that she would have her own dedicated extension. She would then have multiple BLF buttons that would indicate the status of the lines that she is responsible of supervising.

I can manage that assuming that the extension has a device registered to it. But there are two DID's that need to go to the assistant but need to notify her of what line they are coming in on. I was making them seperate extensions but BLF's won't show them rining if there is no device attached. Im assuming a inbound rule that prepends the CID with the trunk/number it is coming in on?

The last hiccup is if the assistant needs to make a call using the bosses line. I haven't figured out how I can set up her phone to be able to essentially use his line with CID info by using a BLF or something.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hey @NM Tech,

Regarding the two DIDs that need to notify the assistant of what line they are coming in on, you could simply configure two separate DID Rules in Management Console >> Inbound Rules, give each a distinct name, and have that name prepended to the CID as you already mentioned. To do this, just access the Management Console and navigate to Advanced >> Contacts >> Options, under "Add Group, Queue or DID/DDI.." select "Prepend Name".

For the second functionality you mention, you could create an Outbound Rule that:
1. Requires a specific prefix.
2. Allows only the assistant's extension to use it.
3. Uses the specific Outbound Caller ID.

When done the Outbound Rule will look something like this:
-----------------
Assumptions
-----------------
Assistant's Extension number: 101
Boss's Outbound CID: 123456
Prefix to be used: 333

With the above, the assistant can dial out using the specified CID by simply prepending 333 to the dialed number. Just make sure that this Rule is placed above the main Outbound Rule so it is checked first, as Outbound Rules have a top-down priority. This of course only works for Outbound rules.

Hope this helps.

Great ideas. I would love to see a way with BLF to select an outbound line/extension to use to dial out and the same button could also monitor the lines status so could answer the line.

Greatly appreciate the reply and will try that for now and see if that meets their needs.

Thanks
