Hi I just uninstalled 15.5.6 and upgraded to 16 and imported the full backup.
The nginx service was not starting with SSL error in the nginx log folder:

[emerg] 6604#8048: SSL_CTX_use_PrivateKey("C:\Program Files\3CX Phone System\Bin\nginx/conf/Instance1/fqdn.com-key.pem") failed (SSL: error:0B080074:x509 certificate routines:X509_check_private_key:key values mismatch)

May i know how to resolve this? Server is Windows 2012.

Im going to take a guess, and say there were pieces left over from the old install, we have had that happen before where not everything gets deleted when you uninstall on a windows server.

Try this!

  1. Save your full backup somewhere safe
  2. Uninstall 3CX again
  3. Delete the 3CX folders inside c:\Program files and c:\program files (x86) completely.
  4. Reboot server.
  5. Install 3CX.
  6. Restore backup and see if this time all is well.

Report Back!

Thank you, i will give it a try now.

I just reinstalled after clearing all 3cx trails. Still no luck. Same error of SSL and the nginx not starting.
any other thoughts? Can i repair the certificate? I am not sure what mismatch it sees, i was restoring from backup!

While upgrading to V16 from backup, it does not prompt for certificates.

does your server use a 3CX fqdn, or a custom one?

custom one. our own

that complicates things, essentially nginx is saying your private key doesnt match the certificate, if you have them backed up, you could try dropping the files into the proper place to see if that fixes it, perhaps they were damaged or corrupted at some point?

How can i re-generate a self-signed certificate now? i dont have access to webconsole as nginx is not working

what file extension is your cert file? i know the key is a pem, i can use one of my servers to generate you a temporary set of self signed from my machine, its linux.

<fqdn>-crt.pem
<fqdn>-key.pem

Im going to send you conversation, with a link to a zip file with them inside, watch for it.
