Good morning Nicholas,

We're interested in knowing more about the AI Server solution that 3CX has created. Could you please help in answering our questions below;

  1. Does the PBX push audio to the AI Server, or does the AI Server poll the PBX for new jobs? Can you confirm the AI Server acts purely as a processor and returns results to the PBX?
  2. Is audio or transcription data encrypted at rest while it is on the AI Server?
  3. Can you confirm all traffic between the PBX and the AI Server goes over the 3CX tunnel and is encrypted in transit?
  4. Does any audio, transcription text or log data remain on the AI Server after processing? If so, what is held, for how long, and can it be configured or purged?
  5. Once a transcription is returned, where is it stored on the PBX?
  6. We normally move recordings off the PBX our storage archiving. Do transcriptions follow the recordings, or do they stay on the PBX?
  7. Does the AI Server send anything outbound to 3CX or third parties (telemetry, usage data, model downloads, licence checks)?
  8. Are AI summaries and sentiment analysis also processed entirely on the local AI Server?
  9. When a recording is deleted, is its transcription deleted with it?
  10. Are transcriptions included in PBX backups?
Many thanks in advance.
James

Hi @JamesHD

1. Yes - to be accurate, it pushes audio to an AI Server (there can be several connected) when one has a slot available. Yes, it's a processor, and returns results to the PBX.

2. For each call (or voicemail) currently being processed, there is a temporary work folder that contains the WAV and interim transcription data - with a randomized folder name and filenames. When the process is completed, that folder and its contents are deleted. Technically, no.

3. Over the tunnel: no. Encrypted in transit: yes over HTTPS.

4. Audio: no. Transcription text: no. Log data: yes, autorotated, deleted after 7 days.

5. The transcription, summary and sentiment are stored in the PBXs database (recordings table).

6. They do not follow the recording. The PBX Data Connectors facility allows the remote archiving (copy or move) of the recording/transcription database records independently of the actual recording.

7. Not from AI Server Version 20.7.x (Update 10). That might change at some point.

8. Yes.

9. When using the PBX's delete recording function, if the database record is still on the PBX then that record is deleted. Any records moved or copied using the Data Connectors facility will need to be managed separately outside the PBX.

10. A full backup that includes Database records will include transcriptions that are present in the PBX's database at that point in time.
