I cannot fathom as to why the ability to play recordings by phone has been removed on the Windows app since March. Many find it easier to play recordings via their phone rather than having to download them as files and then having to, for example, plug in headphones as they will not want other people hearing a recording. The fact that you now have to sign into the web client for the purpose of being able to play recordings on the phone makes the Windows App increasingly irrelevant. Why remove the ability to play recordings on the app and yet keep it on the web client?

I'ld like to know it too...

Due to changes in v16 in the Server-side recordings feature, the Windows App was no longer compatible (if you tried the old version of the App it will work, but eventually it may cause stability issues).

Because we see the WebClient as "the new black", we made adjustments to cater for this functionality in the WebClient, but had to remove it from the 3CX App for the reason I previously mentioned.

I get it but the lack of direction completely alienates the installed base and those of us who have support it. I have customers that use call recording everyday and use the Windows soft client. The web client is NOT the be all end solution for the voice connectivity. More importantly forcing the user to download the audio file opens up a HUGE can of worms in regard to legal issues and the dissemination of the audio file once down loaded, depending on the State the audio was recorded in. Call recordings should be treated as extremely confidential and privileged information, having them in the open in an uncontrolled environment is not a good thing.

To make mattes worse all of the client training now has to be revised to address this issue.

I believe the Windows App also had the option to save the file locally, although it has been some time now since I last tried it, so I don't see any difference with thew WebClient. What I didn't see mentioned is the additional option for users to be able to view all the recordings of the Extension Group they are in, which is great for team heads to know what their team is up to.

The only thing I can completely agree with is that with this change, indeed some users will have to be retrained, although I hardly believe that the WebClient can be considered complicated to use.
I would imagine that if someone is trusted to listen to other peoples recordings and already know how to operate the 3CX Windows App, the change to using the WebClient shouldn't be that hard.
