I get this error quite far into the process after i choose ports etc it then has progress bar validatin FQDN, generating certificate, connecting to database ( langauage might not be correct ).

Im stuck trying to install V20 first time i installed it had the wrong ports set, so i removed that installation and now i cant re-install.

Any ideas bit stuck now as the installation process made me remove the v18 system.

Did you restart the machine before reinstall?

Yes i did before the intial install and then the reinstall i dont think the error is refering to a conflict on the local machine more some web service blocking it remotely ...

Where do you installing the pbx? I would go with the linux iso instead.

Its on windows, i just dont have the time to setup another machine / vm to run in linux / money to run in the cloud.

To spin up a new vm is as fast as installing it on windows. For windows you need an enterprise licence, with linux you could go with pro. Updates on Windows are everytime a reinstall. On linux just an update.

I didnt know that about the updates thats interesting sounds a lot better

Irratingly i just paid for enterprise moving from pro so that i wouldnt have move to a new OS

Now i cant do anything. Do we think someone from 3cx read this post and help me ? Im not sure is support active here ? Otherwise im totally stuck without a phone system, i dont want to change the FQDN as i dont want to have to repovision all the phones.

You run in the block from LE for creating a certificate. So you need to wait until its free again or change the fqdn.

Have you tried killing the msiexec.exe process and hitting retry?

Don't do manual upgrades.

You should scrap that machine and reinstall using the ISO/marketplace images.

Problem is I haven't found good directions on building a v20 img file from an ISO. I have always done upgrades by backing up, purging 3cx, upgrading the base VM to proper level of Linux and then going through the clean installation of the next version. If you could provide me with a guide or where to get a working image I would appreciate.

You don't need an img file. Just use the ISO.

Maybe I am missing something. Understand, I came from Windows and I am learning Linux.I can do a decent job of maintaining and setup after I have a prebuilt VM. I have never been taught how to build a VM from an ISO to use with KVM. So any help or guidance on where to go to learn how to do that would be helpful. I know I am an idiot to a point, but we all have to start out somewhere. I have been doing this since the days of CPM and GW BASIC, but my path only crossed into linux in the last few years and I am mostly self taught.

Assuming this is a local VM (rather than cloud) then build a new, correctly spec'd VM with a blank virtual hard disk, attach the ISO as a virtual CD drive, boot from vCD and install to vHD.

This isn't really learning linux, you would do this to install any OS on a VM. Because of the way 3CX works, you don't really have to touch the linux part, just let 3CX handle the (auto) updates for you.
