When I have a regular GSM phone call on my Android phone, the 3CX android app interrupts this call when there is an incomming call at the3CX app. This is very annoying, especially when I'm driving my car.
Is there a way to prevent this?

Yes - annoying but it is like this. The problem here is the manufacturer.
  1. If the manufacturer (or the OS they make out of stock android) supports Telecom API, then this annoying barge in of the ringer will not happen.
  2. But the manufacturers, on some phones, get the OS, and bastardize it. So then it ends up patched.
Whats app behaves the same - Try it.

Solution -
  1. live with it. Its ok - You hear the ringing only. the other person does not hear it. You can hear the ringing, tell the other person to hold and answer the call.
  2. Go to advanced > settings and enable option Car/telecom api. Now be patient with this - because other issues might come up - But if your phone supports it then you will get perfect integration. It will beep discretely and you can proceed.

Hi
Save the trouble because the S9 will not work. unless they made a silent update that I did not get yet.. (Note - Updates are not pushed to all users worldwide.. They are rolled out so that is another point that might mess our communication)
S7 funnily enough works..
S8 S9 no. Telecom should be off. Very ugly things happen with this option on.
S10 Works perfectly.

  1. Telecom off on your phone. And it will work like this:
  2. When a GSM Call is connected, and a 3cx call comes in, it will act as busy and be sent to the forwarding rules. (not exactly correct but technically you are busy. For caller it makes no difference if you are busy on a gsm or not).
  3. If you have a SIP CALL and a gsm call comes in, you will hear ringing. in this case you will check who is calling you, and inform the caller that you have another call to wait. You answer the gsm, close it, and return to sip call by manually resuming the call.

If you have s10 or pixel, then telecom api is ON and will work.
  1. Telecom ON
  2. When a GSM Call is connected, and a 3cx call comes in, it will act as busy and be sent to the forwarding rules. (Same as before)
  3. If you have a SIP CALL and a gsm call comes in, you will hear a discrete beep not blasting ringing in your ear.
In this case you will check who is calling you, and inform the caller that you have another call to wait. You answer the gsm. The moment you close the gsm call, the sip call will be Automatically resumed.

This is the difference.

no it has to work as I described. We worked meticulously on this. I am sure about this behavior.
What version of the app you have. Go on the beta. Get the latest. Should end with 81

We will try this again on the s9. Ill send updates on this soon.

tried it now. but it works ok.
If you have a second phone, the second phone will only ring. Confirm that you hear nothing on your phone.

So if you have 2 phones, Android and desk, and you are on gsm call on android, then the sip call will not ring on your android but will ring on your deskphone.

Now try and remove your deskphone or configure an android to an extension with no deskphone (just android client). occupy this phone with a gsm call and call it then via sip. Confirm that it goes to FW rules.

Telecom api always off.

I'll try this tomorrow. Currently have desk phone on extension 101 and S9 on 101 as well. Confirm that 3cx will ring on S9 during GSM call and will drop audio on GSM but not drop call. GSM call us still active but has no audio.
I will register a new extension on this phone and test. Then will try back on 101 with desk phone still registered and see what happens. If still persistent will remove desk phone from 101 and test.
I'll let you know the outcome.

Hi mperrin,
Have you tried, what are your findings?
