We’ve recently been receiving requests for the Yealink T88W Pro from our customers, but were disappointed to find that the phone isn’t supported by 3CX.

I decided to reach out to Yealink about when we should expect the phones to be supported by 3CX.

An agent from Yealink came back to me with the following:
3CX has confirmed that they will no longer certify new Android-based models, therefore the T88W will not be able to obtain 3CX certification.
I just wanted to check whether this is accurate, as it seems bizarre that the phone would not be supported. Especially given it's one of the latest models to be released by Yealink and replaces the T58A.

Many thanks,
Harry

just speculating on my end, none of this is factual by any means. but maybe since the android based units cannot be SBC/router phones they won't be allowed? Haven't had any requests for that one yet so wasn't aware of this.

We never supported Android based Yealink phones

Thanks for the reply.

Will 3CX be supporting Android based Yealink phones in the near future?

What confused me was that the 3CX logo was shown under the 'Compliance' section of the Yealink T88W-PRO datasheet, but I see this has been removed sometime in the past 48 hours.

What our customers like about the T88W-PRO is the touchscreen and bluetooth handset combination.

Hello,

Yealink T58w Pro phones are supported by 3CX, and they are Android-based phones.

Kind regards,
Alain

I agree that the T58W Pro is Android-based and is currently listed here: https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/yealink-t5-series/ but possibly there is a critical difference between Android 9 (used by the T54W) and Android 13 (used by the T88W-PRO) that makes this problematic for development - I'm unsure!

While I would personally be comfortable selecting from the range of IP phones already supported, this presents a challenge for us as a 3CX partner. We’ve had customers specifically request this model, and at present we have to advise them that it is not supported.

We’re currently working with a customer who has received a competing VoIP proposal that prominently supports the T88W-PRO (likely on an Asterisk-based platform, based on the description). From our perspective, 3CX remains the stronger solution across virtually all other areas but compatibility with this specific T88W-PRO model is proving to be a sticking point in this case. Support for the T88W-PRO would make a meaningful difference by allowing us to position 3CX without caveats, rather than having to acknowledge this single limitation despite its broader advantages.
