Good morning,

I am currently deploying your self-hosted solution.
I would like to set up a recording solution in place of your recorder system.

Because we need encrypted recording to the ns 399 standard for our call center.
A question was asked to me regarding your type of operation.

What type of audio streams are used by 3cx servers?

Are they proprietary to 3cx or does it use a public standard?

3CX uses their own audio service to handle streams. I don't think you'll be able to plug into it as far as I know.

Best way would be to use a softswitch in between 3CX and the provider, so that you can get the full call and record it. Obviously, this would not work for internal calls.

The recordings themselves in 3CX are done in WAV format or ADPCM format (if compression is enabled.)

You could direct recordings to an encrypted drive. Is that not enough?

Alternatively, perhaps the solution is to encrypt the recording at rest? You may want to take a look at our 3CX Recording Manager tool. While 3CX is recording a phone call, the recording file is inaccessible. However, the moment the call is disconnected we can immediately process the file. We can do this far faster than a human could access the file. Then it is simply a matter of encrypting the file.

The challenge, however, is how to listen to the recording once it has been encrypted. Naturally, typical tools for playing wav files are not going to work unless you unencrypt the file first. You would need a specialized player that can unencrypt the audio in-memory while playing the audio file. That is fairly straightforward from a programming perspective. We can help.
