Hi everyone ,

We are in the process of setting up a fresh 3CX self hosted PBX (since 3cx doesn't support Australia for 3cx hosting ..) but we have come across so concerns or questions..

after purchasing a phone number do you need to attached a plan to it and pay the call rates?
because in SIP Trunk you will also going to pay for the call rate ! can you please help clarify... Sorry if its a newbie question

It is all going to depend on the provider you go with.

Normally, when you "purchase a phone number", you (at least) pay a monthly fee to hold that number. Incoming calls may, or may not, be charged for. Outgoing calls are usually billed in increments that may be as low as 6 seconds. There may even be a bundle of "free" calls per month depending on your monthly charge.

Calling rates to landlines, and mobiles, may differ.

In Australia, there may also be a "flagfall" charge per call (I know they used to have that)

But, again, your provider should be able to tell give you all the details.

Thanks you @leejor for all the details . Do you know any budget friendly provider that offer SIP Trunk with an Australian number as well

I don't, but I'm sure that others on the forum, located in Australia, can offer some suggestions.

If you want to stay with something that has been tested by 3CX, you might want to consider one of these, first.
