Currently on prem and when I plug in a phone into the network, for example 10.0.0.X I can get phone to auto detect and shows in the console that I can then edit how I would like.

If I plug into the network on the vlan 10.0.1.X it will not auto detect, but that is the network all phones reside on. Is there a setting I am overlooking in 3CX to have it auto detect on different internal network?

Thank You

You could install an SBC on the VLAN. Then the phones use it to tunnel to the server.

I was wondering if that would be the option. Thank You

So you are talking about PNP, please note it will use multicast.

PnP provisioning relies on Multicast message exchanges it is mandatory that the phone must be in the SAME local subnet as the pbx. An exception are phones in another network (local or remote) where an 3CX SBC is located as this has the ability to forward via the 3CX tunnel PnP multicast messages to the pbx.

If you are using a VLAN in the same LAN please check that these multicast message can reach the pbx server in order to show them as new in bold. Otherwise the device will not show using PNP but you could use RPS instead.

PBX is located on the 10.0.0.X and 10.0.1.X are on same lan, but different vlan.

You mentioned checking multicast message can be reached on pbx...is there a setting in 3CX console for this, are in our firewall? Thanks

This must be checked in your network not in the PBX settings.

From the server you could notice that the network interface can join and listen the multicast messages when using the phone without the vlan.

However you can still use the RPS for provisioning as mentioned before.

Thanks. I will look at firewall and see what I can figure out.

Multicast is not build to work over different vlans... your phones should be on the same vlan to use pnp provisioning.

While 100% correct, depending on your switch model, you can forward multicast broadcasts.

This, as mentioned by Alejandro above, is 100% a network question and not a 3CX question.

Yes correct, its not impossible but you need the hardware to get it working.
