Azure not recommended?

According to this article, https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/v20-beta1-upgrade (which the discussion is locked so I couldn't post there) it says that Microsoft Azure is not recommended. What is the reason for this? The only issues we've seen personally were after Azure Marketplace deployment was announced. At that point, the deployment became unpredictable using 3CX automation. When the Azure deployment was a button inside 3CX portal it was flawless.

At any rate, would love to know why Azure, one of the leading IaaS providers, is not recommended.

Azure is very support intensive for 3CX. Its a more complicated platform and it shows in the support we have to give for it. Updating marketplace images is a very burocratic and cumbersome process - in fact two months later they have still not updated the marketplace image to update 8.

Earlier in the year Azure had made some ridiculous paperwork requests and removed 3CX from the store for a few months.

We don't have the time nor interest to be in these types of discussions. There might come a time we need to make a fast update and then it will not be possible. Its also very expensive. So we don't recommend Azure for new deployments.

Now you can always upload the ISO of course.

Thanks for your qick reply. That helps a lot.
Since we use MS products in many specialist areas, we host 3CX in Azure.
Until today we had no significant issues with that. Maybe because we use recommended ITSP.
The problem with the unavailable ios earlier in the year an the outdated 3CX version now on the Azure Market Place, we face with installing debian and 3CX manually. Also updating the system manually over shell before setting it up.
So we run 3CX with all Updates installed in the first place.

Have hosted 3CX in Azure on and off for years for clients homed there, rolled out a new V20 vm last night and received this not sure why it let me deploy?

Microsoft's mailer/message is quite confusing as it could be interpreted as if it's a marketplace plan which is deprecated whereas it's only a specific version. When we publish a new version, as expected, we mark the previous one as deprecated. Users receive an email when the deprecation of the old image takes place.

Currently the latest version of both V18 (U9 18.0.9.31) and V20 (U1 20.0.1.731) are available via the marketplaces, including Azure.

Now the message also mentions Windows Server 2016 Datacenter which is irrelevant...
