Hi,
I have a recently installed V18 system where the PC now wont start any of the services for the 3CX site. It starts nginx, media, database but not the configuration service or any of its dependencies.

My first recourse was to build a duplicate machine and restore a backup so that we had a running system whilst I sorted the main machine, however, when I installed the main machine I did the upgrade to the beta security patch before doing the backup. Now when I try to restore the backup during the new setup of a 3CX, it tells me the backup is not compatible as it is of a newer version than the install download.

I tried installing a new instance with a new domain name, upgrading to the version compatible with the backup and then restoring the backup, assuming that the backup would overwrite the domain name and licence key, however that fails with a message that the backup cannot be restored as the domain names are different.

I'm now a bit stuck as even reloading the main machine will now have the same issues.

Is there a process to install a new version using the existing domain name so that I can update it to a compliant version and then restore my backup?

You need to spin up a new machine with the same license key as the previous one, and don't release the FQDN.

Once set up, you can restore your backup and it will work as the license will match.

Thanks, for swift response, so when installing the new instance I enter the existing FQDN during the setup process, apply the licence key, do the upgrade and then restore the backup, correct?

You won't have to enter the FQDN, just the license key and it will use the same domain automatically.
