I know that when you do a backup/restore, it's vital to use an installer with the same version created by the backup or a newer version.

Two questions.
Since consoles now show something like 18.0 Update 2 (Build 307), does this equate to the installer file version of 18.0.2.307?

I have done some migrations to 18 lately then did updates on them. I notice in the updated PBX 18.0 Update 2 (Build 315), but the current download of the the installer is 18.0.2.307, so if I'm not mistaken, this PBX is a newer build than the current download installer. I'm going to assume a backup/restore with any installer on the same update (18.0.2.xxx) will be fine to restore with, just want to make sure the build number is not a factor.

Thanks!

Build number is a factor, you cannot restore a newer backup onto a older version of 3cx

If the backup file is newer than the installation file do the following

Backup with fqdn and license
Install 3cx without select restoring from backup - use same license key and fqdn
Update this 3cx instance to the latest version.
Restore the backup using restore function in the mangement console

What @Saqqara should work just fine but, just to confirm, will you be migrating from a Windows installation to a Debian one? If yes, what exact version is your 3CX Windows Installation?

Yes, windows to Debian, the Windows servers are up to date, v18 Update 2 builds 314 and 315 as I'm a little behind on some of the updates. I suppose for purpose of ease and not having to go through the process @Saqqara describes, I could wait to move to Debian until the published 3CX installer reaches at least build 315, just not sure how long that will be.

3CX for Windows is indeed on a higher version than 3CX for Linux due to an emergency hotfix recently released specifically for Windows instances meaning you will not be able to use that backup to restore to a Debian instance. As 3CX v18 U3 is just around the corner we won't be aligning the two versions for v18 U2 as this will happen automatically once U3 is out so I recommend you hold in there until U3's out of BETA.

Thank you all for your help. Last thing, am I correct on the details of the exe's for Windows and Debian, 18.0.2.307 will mean v18 update 2 build 307, 18.0.2.315 v18 update 2 build 315 etc.
