Open your backup zip, check the main XML file, the first lines contain the version that created the backup. You need to restore using the same or larger version.

Perhaps the installer should check this when importing for restore and prompt that the backup was made with a newer 3CX version. That would save a lot of time.

That did go through my mind.

Agreed, this check has already been added in Update 5 Alpha

Not going well, backup version 16.0.4.493 3cx version 16.0.4.504 moving from server 2012 to Windows 10.
All wen through, registered FQDN, failed on the registration screen.

Second attempt this afternoon, I built a clean W10 machine and did a command line restore. Pleased to say this has worked and I'm now on 16.0.4.504 and can ring iPhones.
Only three extensions to import and some chat groups etc lost but bearable.
Lessons learned - avoid alpha in production and a warning if restoring a backup to an incompatible version would be useful. A clean build also recommended.
Thanks for all help received.

Glad to hear it was resolved
