Backup Server

Hi. We have licenced for one copy of 3CX, does anyone know if I can configure a backup copy on another server and activate the licence. Once done I will shut down the backup server and only start it up if we have an issue with the other installed running copy. I need to have a plan if anything happens to the current install of 3CX, the second installation could be used and switched so the downtime was keep to minutes not hours while we load the software.

I've restored the backup many times, but with no license. i'm getting frustrated about it. i badly need your help. i don't know what to do. i don't know why can't i restore the license.

Is your 3CX license current? i.e. Have you renewed the annual Upgrade Insurance [UI] on it since it was first purchased???

If it's more than a year since you activated the license, and it has not had the UI renewed, then that may explain why you can't restore the system - especially if you are trying to do it onto a platform that is in any other status than exactly what your original was like ...

our 3cx live server is perfectly working fine. we have no problem with license. its just that we need to have a backup in smaller machine. (is that possible?) coz we're going to move in different location for half a day. (we're avoiding the hassle of removing the server to its rackmount and then carry it to temporary location and then setting it up again to its original location). our 3cx server is HP Proliant DL120 G7 and I'm trying to have a backup in HP Proliant Microserver. and i'm also trying to restore it in a desktop computer(is that possible?)

In my experience - yes - that's perfectly possible ...

All I'd say is make sure that your version of 3CX on the 'back-up' machines is either equal to or newer than the original server. If newer, then make sure you upgrade your original 3CX to the same level before you do a restore back to that from the back-up unit that has been running in your business ...

I recently ran my own 3CX on a laptop, after a catastrophic hard drive fail in my 3CX server ... It worked OK.

If you are running heavy IVR or voice recording app's as part of the 3CX system - you do need to keep the processing power high on the standby server.
