In V18 we were able to use the Call Control API to barge into a call using an IVR. This was useful if you needed the ability to pop into a call briefly, play a message, and drop out of the call. For example, "Your call is being recorded", or a simple "beep" indicating the call is being recorded. Or perhaps a queue agent is required to state some boilerplate information at a certain point in the conversation. Providing a button the agent can push that barges into the call and plays the message was very helpful.

We used this capability in three of our commercial tools "3CX Recording Beep", "3CX Barge Messages", and "3CX Agent Greeting". Unfortunately, in V20 a barge invoked by the Call Control API performs a "rights" check. Since an IVR is not a user, you cannot assign barge rights to an IVR, and thus the API request is rejected due to lack of necessary permissions. Without this change we have three heavily used commercial products headed for the scrap heap.
