best way to swap phone

I have extension 100 with name john. i want to swap it with extension 101 name jane. how do i swap phone? meaning 100 john will be on 101 jane phone. does this make sense?

The phones are provisioned with specific extension details. The correct way if to factory reset, remove the phone from the previous extension and provision to the new.

thank you.. so go to each extension and under provision. remove the mac address and phone? then reset the phone to factory default and let 3cx pick it up and assign it to the correct extension?

Yes you need to remove it from the associated extension and then factory reset. The PBX though will not automatically assign the phone to each extension. You need to assign the phone to the extension after it appears as new in the phones section.
