Hi,
I have been getting some random voicemails that are blank. The attachment looks normal

I have the from number, received date and duration.
the transscription is blank and the .wav attachment is blank

it is not happening to all voicemails. just randomly happening.

I am running 3CX on the debian distro.

Anything I should check?

Thanks

Joe

If you call into the 3CX mailbox, is it blank there as well?

Voicemails are emailed to users and deleted from their mailbox.

I will turn this off on my mailbox and test

I just got another voicemail that in my email there is an attached wav file, 544Kb
Duration - "00:00:34"

Transcription is blank

I went into the voicemail on the desktop client and it dowloaded the wav file. I tried to play in a couple of media players and it is a 34 second empty file

When I log into the voicemail (9999 on the phone) and play the old message, again no audio.

I’ve seen this come up before in the forum but it was a while ago. I don’t recall the conclusion. Did you restart 3CX services, or the server?

I assume you left a test message and know it's not a blank recording?

If so, you've narrowed the problem down to blank audio on the 3CX server (as dialing in gives the same result, so it's not related to the email). Transcription is blank because the file is blank, so the next step is to figure out why 3CX isn't saving the recorded audio.

I would test doing a recording for an IVR/Self ID/Voicemail box and see if those are blank as well.

I suspect the issue is either permissions or A/V related (probably not allowing the file to be written to). The quickest way to resolution is likely a backup and reinstall - should take 15 minutes.

I recently started having this issue after install a new debian based VM and restoring from a windows backup. Everything else is working. Did you find any resolution?
I've also noticed that all the voicemails are only 10 seconds long.

I am getting blank voicemails when they are emailed, but there is voicemail on the server. What is fix?

@house1, to enable voicemail transcription and to receive transcription as an email attachment, you must have a dedicated system in PRO or Enterprise edition.
This option is not available with free editions.
