Hi,

So I have a phone set up to an extension that is only there so the people around can hear it ring when a call is waiting to be picked up.
This extension is part of 2 ring groups.
I want to block all direct calls on that extension, except from the ones coming throught the ring groups.
Is it at all possible?

Thanks

My best suggestion would be to set the extension in DND and in that profile check the "Accept calls from Ring Groups" option then for both "Internal Calls" and "External Calls" set it to "End Call"

My other suggestion would be to use the "Exceptions" section under the Forwarding Rules for the extension.

This isn't a clean solution but if you have all of your extensions in one range (i.e. 1XXX) and your ring groups outside of that range (i.e. 2XXX) you could make a rule that sends and call with the caller ID "1*" in "All Hours" to "End Call".

Yes you can achieve that using forwarding rule section, add rule to block call from the extension range as Nicholas suggested, you can add multiple ranges if your extension numbers are not in sequence, for example

001-088, 90,95-100

you can define individual extension or range see attached images.

Its always a good practice to use specific range for extension, different for RG , Call QUEUE etc.

Thank you both for your answers!
That does exactly what I want.

Don't how I didn't think of that!

Thanks

I am glad it worked for you, feel free to mark the request solved.
