What make/model of router is this?

Netgear WNR2000 wireless N

All the connections with phone extensions are hard wired, no home plugs and the soft phones are not on wireless devices

I have completely disabled the firewall for now as well

Jody

have just upgraded the router to the latest firmare, thinking maybe that was an issue, but its still doing the same

Jody

This sounds like its a network connectivity issue. Try running WinMTR (http://winmtr.sourceforge.net/) and put in the IP address of your VoIP provider. This will tell you if you are getting packet drops or exscessive latency at some point.

I have tried with 3 different VOIP providers, all with the same result, including one that is supported (sipgate)

Jody

I believe it is your network connection, not your choice of providers. If you follow the instructions in my previous message it will help determine where the point of likely failure is.

have run the WinMTR for last hour now,

but its not showing anything in the results part of the page

Do you offer a remote support/login/setup as a service ?

Run WinMTR, enter the ip or host name of your voip provider into the host field, start the trace by clicking the Start button.

And to answer your last question, yes.

Could you please provide a brief explanation regarding "what is the WinMRT?" and explain "what is the benefit to use it"?

Thanks

MTR is a great tool that will do kind of a traceroute to a remote IP. The difference is that it will show you the individual latency between each hop. This can help troubleshoot where in the network between two points that a problem is occurring. I have used this many times to tell my ISP that they have an upstream problem.

In the following output you can see an issue between Level3 and Vitelity.

Hi

Thats what i do,

teh host name turns grey, and then does nothing. The only option is to press Stop or Exit

I have tried with the hostname IP and the hostname url on 2 different hosts.

Sounds like you have some port blocking from your ISP. MTR wont work right if ICMP is blocked. If they are blocking that then MTR can't return any results. If they are blocking that, no telling what else they are blocking.

Really, the only last test I can really suggest, try connecting a softphone or hardphone directly to your voip provider instead of going through your 3CX system. That would definitively tell that its not the 3CX system.

Kerry,

I agree, it is really useful.

Thanks a lot for explanation

I have x-lite softphone and a SNOM 300 and a Siemens gigaset C475IP, with all the phones connected direct to any of the VoIP providers, outgoing and incoming calls all work fine, its only when i run through on the 3CX that the outgoing drop out

problem resolved

It was a firmware issue. And not the normal upgrade to fix,

I had to downgrade to 1.1.3.9 for my router (Netgear WNR 2000)

http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/935

I can now make calls!!!

thanks for all the help and advice. Hopefully as I get more used to the system, I will be able to offer some advice back.

regards

Jody
