Hi 3CX Support,

Recently I used the Reports to check "Call Reports". However, I found that there are two buttons in final arrow. One is external, the other is internal. So could you please help me explain what's different between them? Why not to show one?

Hi Kyle,

The first link is a local link while the second points to your FQDN (external).

Hi VasilisV_3CX ,

First of all, thanks for assisting me asap.
But in my opinion, it's difficult for junior customer to realize what you said. Or is there more detail to illustrate? From the point of customers' view, they think why not just show one button? Maybe it's not better for customer satisfaction.

Kind Regards,
Kyle

Hi Kyle,

I'll give a more detailed example as to why we do this. Imagine if you host on prem, you now have a local IP pointing to your internal server, linked to your FQDN. If you were to click the FQDN link the PBX would try to contact the FQDN and be pointed straight back, this most likely would be blocked as hairpin traffic / connections. As a security measure, we avoid this sort of traffic.

To ensure everyone can download their recordings regardless of where they're connecting from, we include a internal and external download link.

Note that in the upcoming v18, we plan to improve this functionality so that only one link will appear in the future that will work from all locations.

Hi VasilisV_3CX,

Thanks for providing more detail to me. We're looking forward to see V18 version as well.

Thanks in advance!
Kyle
