Hello All,

I've been reading countless threads on call screening.

What I need is when someone dials an extension ONLY from external calls, I need call screening to announce ON the IP phone when picked up the desk phone. For internal calls, I don't want call screen since it will be from another employee.

This person doesn't have a mobile phone so I need to have call screening at all times if someone calls externally and directly enters the extension number from the main IVR.

It would be great if you added this feature unless there is a workaround? I see so many are in need of this. Most PBX out on the market do this including my enterprise PBX at my Colo.

I finally found a workaround but it's not making sense, could someone please fill in the detail? Or is there a much better way of doing this?
Below is what I found and my questions/comments are in CAPS (not yelling) hehe

NOTE: the following ext 852 cannot be changed, it's must stay as the real extension with a registered phone on the other end.

If you wish to do it permanently on all calls, there is a way you can try (even though it was not designed for this reason).

Send external calls to a dummy extension.
YES, I CAN DO THIS BUT CUSTOMERS DIAL 852 WHICH IS REGISTERED AND ONLY RINGS TO THAT EXTENSION, HOW WOULD I LINK THE DUMMY EXT SO IT CALLS 852 IF THE DUMMY EXT IS NOT REGISTERED?

Set the dummy extension's mobile to be your real extension.
THIS IS DUMMY EXT HAS NO REGISTERED PHONE AND WILL NOT DO AN OUTBOUND CALL TO EITHER INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL NUMBER, PART OF THE SAME PROBLEM ABOVE.

Modify the DND profile to always Forward to mobile.
YOU CAN'T IF THERE ISN'T A REGISTERED PHONE ON THAT DUMMY EXT BUT I STILL FACE THE TIMEOUT ISSUE, 1 IS THE SMALLEST TIME BEFORE IT TRANSFERS OUT, SO IT RINGS THE IP PHONE ONCE THEN OUT TO THE CELL, THEN IT CALLS BACK AND LOOPS. I ALSO DON'T SEE A SEPARATE TIMEOUT FOR EITHER INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CALLS FOR THIS TO WORK. WHEN SELECTING MOBIL FOR EXTERNAL CALLS AND POINTED TO THE REAL EXT, IT SHOULDN'T RING THE DESKPHONE FIRST WITH CALL SCREEN, WHILE INTERNAL CALL GO TO THE DESKPHONE WITH NO CALL SCREEN. IS THERE SUCH A SETTING IN THE SYSTEM TO DO THIS OR MUST I HAVE A REGISTERED PHONE ON THE DUMMY EXT?

You can now tick the Announce caller and press OK to save. DEPENDING THE AVOVE COMMENTS

Set the dummy extension's status now to DND. PENDING THE AVOVE COMMENTS, NOT SURE THIS WILL STAY THE SAME.

When a call arrives to your external number it will reach the dummy extension, it will play the screening IVR, and then your real extension will ring and you will hear the prompt.
