call to a ring group is answered by two extensions

I was recently told that someone answered a call to a ring group and could hear someone else already taking the call. The first person to answer the call was on a Snom deskphone, and the second person to answer the call was on an Android phone using the 3CX app.

Has anyone else heard of this?

Yes, very similar.

We had it often while we have not abandoned the group call and has not passed on the turn call.
