So I have a specific issue which I would imagine is a simple config change, but for the life of my I cannot determine what is needed to be changed to make this work.

When an external caller dials in and reaches an extension, if that extension forwards to a cell phone it fails. When that happens, the call drops. Twilio reports the following error:

SIP: 'From' phone number not verified
Possible Causes
The From number used to make outbound call not a Twilio number or not a verified caller ID

Possible Solutions
Change the callerID used in the From field of the SIP INVITE to a Twilio number on your account or verify your number by visiting the Console Verified Caller IDs or REST API.

Error Description
You attempted to initiate an outbound phone call, but the From number you specified is not a verified Outgoing Caller ID for your account. In order to use a phone number as the Caller ID on outgoing calls, you must first validate your ownership of that phone number.

The number in the error is the EXTERNAL CALLER ID, which I obviously don't own or can verify so I am not sure of the fix. I would imagine it would involve spoofing the CID to the main trunk number but I really don't know the right answer.

Cheers,

-Matt

Ok, so I sorted this on my own - it's likely not a solution for some but for me, it works as I have a small shop and don't mind the caller ID being changed.

I put an outbound pattern rule on the Twilio trunk in the 3CX system. This pattern uses a catch all (.*) for the source and then rewrites to the main trunk number.

All transfers to external cell phones now show the main trunk as the caller ID, which isn't ideal, but the calls don't fail anymore.

everything works - until that extension forwards to an external cell phone.

Since an extension is forwarding the call, outside, it's extension number is being sent as caller ID, not the original caller number. Obviously Twilio does not allow any numbers to be sent, other than the ones you have with them.
Glad you were able to change the CID back to your "Main" number.

Actually it's not the extension that is being sent as the CID, its the external number according to the Twilio logs.

That makes sense, it is just that many times the complaint is that a transferred call will not show the original (outside) callers number, it will instead be the extension number, and I assumed that was the case here.
It is going to depend on what caller ID options you have set in the outbound trunk options, from where caller ID is taken.
