Hello Everyone

I like a challenge but I think this one might have beaten me.

So was hoping someone might be able to help me with a very strange problem I have with a Grandstream GXW410X PSTN gateway.

I'm trying to setup Caller ID

I have setup and tested the following:

  1. Firewall passes all tests.
  2. Trunk is activated.
  3. All services up and running.
  4. Inbound and outbound rules setup.
  5. Outbound calls work.

I have managed to get this working,

However it only seems to work for a very short period of time, after 1-2 calls it stops working, reverts back to unknown, I can get the SIP USER ID - 10000 to show up.

I'm running the 3cx soft phone. Test calls are from a mobile phone.

Also when a call comes in and the call is ended on the mobile, the 3cx soft phone keeps ringing 2-3 more times.

I know the basics but no expert so will do my best to answer any questions.

Thanks in advance for any help with this issue.

Firstly the firewall checker should not make a difference, you are using a PSTN gateway after all.

As for the caller id, this is often an added service (at cost) so ensure that you have checked with the provider.

I would confirm (on each phone jack, before the gateway) with a stand-alone telephone (with caller ID), or a caller ID box, that all lines are actually sending CID information. In most cases a feature setting such CID is going to be applied the same to all members of a trunk on the gateway, so that shouldn't be an issue. But, the option may not have been added to all lines by the provider. Best to confirm that first, before you begin pulling your hair.

Thank you for all the replies .

leejor - To late for that, now bald.

I have had the callers id show up. So I would have thought it was enabled on the line, I have also confirmed with the provider.

If you are in an are that uses Bellcore type caller ID, then it is sent between the first and second ring. If the time set for the call to be passed onto 3CX is too short, then the data may not be captured for a call. the length of the first ring may vary causing some calls to not have caller ID. It may be the difference between waiting 2,3, or 4 seconds.

If you are using BT type caller ID, then it is going to be different. I believe that a current reversal is sent to "wake up" the caller ID device, a "ring" is not used. That being the case, lines may be sensitive to a tip and ring reversal in the wiring. Did you make an attempt to test caller ID, using a stand-alone device, on each PSTN line?

Can confirm that the number shows up on a normal telephone.
I only have one line.
I have changed the the port on the Grandstream, managed to get the number to show up once, now it shows unknown.

Cant see anything about wake up in grandstream.

Hello,
Caller ID must be configured in the Channel setting calling to VOIP.
You must set the Caller ID for the PSTN number as installed on the FXO ports.
Please reply when the problem is solved..
