Hi, we have a few inbound sip trunks and in order to distinguish which number the incoming caller has called I reformatted as below. This works fine in displaying the callee's number and the word on the phones display. However when we want to redial that number from the history on the phone it doesn't work. Presumably this is because the phone is trying to dial the word as part of the number. I'm hoping someone has seen this before as it must be a common scenario.

Hey @Rickster,

Inbound CID reformatting will reformat the From:User part field which is then used when attempting to dial the number back so what you assume is most likely true. Since you are doing this to allow users to distinguish between the numbers called, I would recommend simply using DIDs in conjunction with the DID name prepend/append feature.

• In the Management Console, go to Inbound Rules and create a DID rule for each number.
• Give every DID Rule a distinct name.
• Go to Advanced (in the left pane) >> Contacts >> Options.
• Enable the "Add Group, Queue or DID/DDI Names to Caller ID" option by either selecting Append or Prepend.

Now, depending on which DID Rule the call went through, the name of that DID Rule will be appended/prepended to the Caller ID but will not affect redialing that number since it is only added to the From: Display Name field.

Note: Do remember to remove all your existing CID reformattings.

Hope this helps.

Thankyou for the swift reply. That has worked sufficiently for our needs.
