Is it possible to reformat a caller ID based on the number of digits dialed?

I have 3CX connected to a Nortel Meridian Option 61C system via a Patton SmartNode 4970A. I receive inbound calls to 3CX from the Nortel and can route outbound calls through the Nortel. The Nortel is connected to two T1 circuits.

If I dial a four digit extension from 3CX and that extension is not defined in 3CX, the call is routed to the Nortel via the Patton and goes to a Nortel extension in the building. I would like the caller ID from 3CX to show up on the Nortel as just the four digit extension, which I can do by defining the caller ID on the 3CX extension as the four digit extension number. The problem is that if I do that, calls destined for external numbers will show up as invalid number. If I put a full 10 digit number as the caller ID everything works, it's just that the calls show up on the internal Nortel extensions looking like an external call.

You might be able to do it using the caller ID setting, now available, in the outbound rules. Calls to an external number, (not a 4 digit number), could be assigned a PSTN caller ID and routed to the same trunk group. However, this number will remain static unless you create a rule used only by each extension.
