We're having this issue, but not sure how to properly tackle this.

This is basically the same as our issue. https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/v20-caller-id-name-non-supported-providers.124182/page-2

Not sure why 3CX hasn't fixed the template, still, but here we are.

If I fix the template and import it, will that be reflected in our provider template being updated, or is that only used during creation? It seems odd that we can't update those within 3CX.

I see instructions for basically re-creating everything from scratch, but I'm not fluent in everything, and we can really afford the downtime to figure it out right now.

This has been a problem with templates for at least a year, so not sure why it hasn't been fixed yet. Is is really that hard to do a simple fix on a template?

Hello @Shane Farmer

The template does not have an issue. It's working the way it was created to work. It's a generic template to cover most configurations. The 2 SIP headers have the same value because if your provider is not sending a Display Name during calls then you will see an empty line on your phone. What the inbound parameters do is tell the PBX which value to read from the incoming invite. You can definitely have 2 fields read the same value.
For your case, you can export the template, make the necessary changes and re-import it.

The template you import is only used for the trunk creation. It does not replace the generic template in the file system.

Not hard at all but then you will see people complaining that they see empty lines during inbound calls. You cannot cover all cases with Generic templates.

Why not give us the ability to edit this like V18? Not sure why removing functionality makes sense. What is the easiest way to make this change without re-creating the trunk. Or is that the only way?

I can't even edit/see the trunk. Only export.

That means that your trunk was created with a template that is no longer in the system. Unlike V18, when you import a template to V20 that template needs to correspond with an existing template of the system.
If you cannot edit the trunk then you should delete it and then re-create it using the Generic template (if your provider is not supported). Then export the trunk make the necessary changes and import it back into the system.

The recommended option of course is to use a supported provider where you should not need to make any changes.

I see the option to export, how do I import?

I also would like to know how to import

Go to Advanced, Templates, click the Provider Templates tab and import provider.

You might need to do this every time you want to add a new trunk.

Thanks for the answer. That's what I assumed, but I wasn't sure how to redo everything. It seems like if you export a trunk, you should be able to import a trunk. Or why have the option to export? Our vendor fixed the Caller ID issue, but now all of our calls show one Caller ID.
