Hi,

We're looking at implementing a 3CX failover for one of our customers.

We have the servers, Enterprise license, SIP trunk, etc all sorted.

One option from our SIP provider was to use SIP response 503 to let them know that the server is going offline.

We won't need it for the failover, but it may come in handy for "maintenance" situations where we temporarily need to take the main server offline briefly.

So, my question is: can the 3CX respond to incoming calls on its SIP trunk with a 503 response?

Thanks,
Marc

Can't recall that question in the past. When 3CX is shut down, it doesn't happen gradually, it just stops. Most users, that want a fail-over with their provider will have an alternative route (call forwarding), in place so calls are automatically sent elsewhere, in the event there is no response to an Invite, or the trunk fails to re-register in the expected time period.

What are you expecting the provider to do with the 503 message? If they know to forward the calls (it's been set-up ahead of time), they will act on that if there is no response .

Yeah pretty confused about this. There is no maintenance mode in 3CX to return this. It either answers or it doesn't. And I'm not sure I'd want my 3CX to failover if it's planned maintenance. A lot of effort to sync all that data back unless you don't care about it.
