Can a SIP URI be entered in the address book?

I have not been able to figure out how to enter a sip URI in the address book nor make a direct sip call from the keyboard. I have searched the web and this forum on several different terms and haven't come up with any solutions. Can someone help?

Direct SIP calls, have come up a few times. So far, I don't think it has changed yet. You cannot make them. Registration to a SIP server is required.

Unfortunately, there is no way to initiate a call to anything but the provider you are currently registered with.
There have been some requests for this, as a feature, so, it may show up in a future version, eventually.
