Can the Aastra 51i be provisioned on 3CX?

I'm getting mixed feeling about this. In this list of supported phones it's not listed, however when you go to Add a phone (I'm on V15.5) it's there in the list under the heading "End of Life" which, to me, suggests it is compatible, at least to some degree:



I have read the How to configure Aastra 67i Series for 3CX article which has a link to firmware for the Aastra 675i, but no mention of the 51i. So first question, does anyone know if Firmware versoin 2.6.0.2019 is ok for the 51i?

Incidentally I have also followed this article on how to provision Aastra phones but it didn't work - not necessarily surprising if I need Firmware version 2.6.0.2019 though

Hello @Fred2k

Please note that in the first guide you mention there is a link for downloading the supported firmware for these devices, and the 51i is included. Not sure exactly what version that is as i do not have access to an Astra 51i currently but that is the one you should be using. If i remember correctly it is version 2.6.0.2019.

Ok thanks - I just wanted to double check as the 51i isn't explicitly mentioned anywhere on that page, and I didn't want to kill my phone in the process!


I guess it's version 2.6.0.2019 since when you add the phone from 3CX it's listed as 51i/6751i suggesting they're handled the same way.

Download the files and use those to provision the phone. The phone will pull the correct file.

Well, I wasn't able to upgrade the firmware via HTTP, however I did manage it using this Pumpkin TFTP method, so I now have firmware version 2.6.0.2019 loaded

Unfortunately I'm still having no joy provisioning the phone automatically. I factory reset it, added the phone with MAC address to an extension in 3CX, and set the Configuration Server as per instructions in this article, but when I restart the phone nothing is happening.

I was able to register the phone manually by populating the Global SIP Settings, however this is fairly tedious and I have several more Aastra 51i phones to configure, so if anyone can help me figure out how to get it to pick up the settings automatically I'd be very grateful!
