Can we use the v16 backup on a v15.5 SP instance?

Hi,

We have 2 instances running, one is v15.5 SP6 and the other one is v16.

I would like to know if there would be any issues if we are to use the backup from v15.5 on v16 and vice-versa.

Will that somehow effect the instance, or is it fine to use the backups from both the instances with other?

You can use the 15.5 backup to restore / setup a V16 installation - you can not go back the other way (v16 backup to v15.5)
