Hi everyone,

I’m having trouble getting my Yealink T23G phones to auto-provision with 3CX Cloud using an SBC. Here’s my setup:

  • 3CX is hosted on the cloud.
  • We have 2 Yealink T23G phones and 2 Wildix P410 phones.
  • The Wildix phones are not connecting, so I tried using Generic IP Phones instead.
  • For Yealink, I tried registering via MAC address.

Even after configuring everything and connecting through the SBC, the phones do not auto-provision.

Has anyone encountered this issue before? Could someone guide me on the proper steps to get these phones to register and provision automatically with 3CX via SBC?

Thanks in advance!

Just updated the firmware but someone suddenly refresh the page (Im on remote) and url is not opening now.

just to add up this is the system info

System Information

  • 3CX Version: v20 (Cloud)
  • Server OS: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)
  • 3CX Hosting: Hosted in linode (Cloud)
  • IP Phone Make/Model/Firmware:
    Yealink T23G – Firmware 44.80.0.10
  • Provisioning Method: SBC
  • Routing Device: 3CX SBC (connected / green)
  • Trunk Provider: Telnyx
  • Firewall Checker Passed: YES
  • Custom Phone Templates: NO

Hi,

1. Yealink firmware should be 44.84.0.180, you can grab it from the 3CX website. The phone may refuse it though because yours is too old and needs the in-between versions first. Contact Yealink support to get help upgrading.

2. I see you use a custom FQDN, meaning you may be using certificates that are not supported by this Yealink. You will have to contact Yealink support to learn if your specific certs are supported on the phone (even if using your own Let's Encrypt because you may be signing with ciphers the phone doesn't support).

Keep in mind these models are about 14 years old now, ancient by modern TLS standards.

If the IP phone is stuck after a failed firmware update, please reach out to Yealink support for additional assistance.

Can I just hard reset it?

You can perform a hard reset on the device and then verify if the firmware has been updated.

If you are still having trouble updating from within the PBX, you may opt to manually update the device using the following document: https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/firmware-update-yealink/

If you are still unable to update the device using either method, you should contact the device vendor for additional troubleshooting.

is it normal for yealink to update firmware like in hours?

Do you mean that the phone takes hours to update the firmware once you initiate the update?

Normally, it should not take hours to upgrade. Does this happen even if you manually upgade the it from the GUI of the phone?

I updated through the GUI and uploaded the new firmware and now it's still stuck in "updating firmware..."

I suggest contacting the vendor regarding this if this occurs even when you upgrade the Phone through the GUI
