Working with T54W's and EXP50 expansion modules at the moment. The BLF display includes First Name Last Name and is often too long to be contained in the 10 character display space on the phone. The displayed characters are further reduced to 7 or 8 then the total size exceeds 10 characters because the system adds dots at the end to indicate there is more to the name. I was asked if there is any way to change the BLF to display extension numbers rather than names since this is how the legacy system worked. Any ideas?

We managed to get round this with our Yealink T46G.
If you don't have many extensions to do, you can go into the phones UI and 'Dss key' and change label length there.
You can also overwrite labels here if needed.
Although you will lose this information when re-provisioning/firmware upgrades.

Obviously won't be practical if you have many extensions

Thanks, yes I know we could circumvent 3CX and manually modify phones but as you observed it is not scalable or persistent. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some obscure feature besides manual or custom templates within 3CX that permitted changing the label format.

Unless configurable by advanced parameters (which 3CX recommends against doing anyways) you are looking at a custom template.
