Hello team, i want somebody to explain me what is this and what can i do.

To improve our cloud services, the FQDN endpoint used to activate 3CX products will change to activate.3cx.com. The current activation endpoint will be terminated, the latest by 1st February 2022.

The change will come into effect upon the release of Update 2 Beta, of version 18. Version 16 customers will later be provided a patch for Update 8. Both updates also extend the activation compatibility until November 2022.

What do I have to do?
Review your network access rules and ensure that you allow connectivity to activate.3cx.com. Due to the nature of our service clusters, we cannot provide you with a fixed IP list.

Ensure that you update your customers by the 1st February 2022 to v18 Update 2. Alternatively ensure that version 16 Update 8a is installed once it's available, however this will be a short-term fix - until November 2022.

Upgrade all your customers to v18 to ensure long term support, compatibility and security.

Best regards,

Well essentially what's happening is that we're changing our activation server's FQDN from activation.3cx.com to activate.3cx.com.

This is the destination the 3CX PBX contacts to activate itself and the License Key and is therefore mandatory to keep your 3CX Instance functional and supported.

activation.3cx.com which is the old FQDN will be terminated latest on the 1st of February, so, 3CX PBXs running versions below v18 U2 will not be able to activate. The only exception is 3CX version 16 U8a (v16.0.8.16 patch). 3CX version 16 U8a will be able to activate but only until November 2022. This is to give customers time to upgrade to the latest version of v18 until then as we know it might be hard to get all PBXs on the current version until February.

With the above in mind, what you have to do to keep your PBXs operational is to just make sure that they are all running the latest v18 version by February 1st. If you cannot upgrade all PBXs to this version, at least make sure that you upgrade them to v16 U8a by Feb 1st so that you can then upgrade them all one by one to v18 by November 2022.

If you restrict internet access from the 3CX server, you need to allow access to activate.3cx.com.

If 3CX server has full internet access, you have to do nothing on the firewall

Depending on what version of 3CX is running, install the patch when available

No as per info in the email, there will be two patches - for v16 and v18.

Installing the patch U8a will make V16 work until Nov 22, before this day, you should think about upgrading to the latest version

AS a company you should be thinking about upgrading to the latest version 18 in the near future
