Hey guys,
I have a client that is open on Saturdays but occasionally closes on the Saturday.
I have suggested that they use *642 to put the phones into afterhours mode but that will play the afterhours message rather than playing the "we're closed this Saturday" message.
Is anyone aware of an easy way to change the message without maybe having to log into the PBX and manually change it?
Thanks, Rob.

Hi @Rob Novotny,

I haven't found an internal way to do this with the Web Client, but I believe this can be done with the CFD (Call Flow Designer). What could happen is:
  1. You could create a condition, one of the conditions would be when an extension dials in and the other when an external number dials in.
  2. If an extension dials in, the call flow should know it by digit length and when an extension calls in, a user input could set a global parameter of 1 or 2. You could use something like 1 for Open on Saturdays and 2 for Closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Great, that takes care of your users being able to switch on the fly.
  3. Now, on the other side of the condition you'll need the CFD to check the global parameter status that you created, if it's 1 it will need to route to an IVR that has your prompt for "we're closed on Sundays" and if it's 2 it should route to the IVR that say "we're closed this weekend" etc.
If you have any programming experience then this should take you a couple of hours to get working. If you require assistance, I can move this thread into the CFD section.

On inbound rules, for out of office hours route as normal. For in office hours, route calls to a dummy extension. Have the presence status of the dummy extension route either to the default IVR for Available, and to an alternate IVR (for away) for those saturdays where you are closed. The only issue is that you will have to remember to change the presence status. Likely to be forgotten from time to time.
