Solved Chat icon not working in Wordpress

I am only posting this to help others. I hope I am not breaking any rules. I, too, had this problem. The chat icon worked, but hovering over it showed a prohibited overlay. It turns out that I had the WP Spam Shield installed and that required me to disable WP Spam Shield from blocking miscellaneous forms ("Disable anti-spam for miscellaneous forms.") Now everything is working.
