Good day!

I am new to 3CX. I have 2 Cisco IP7965g's as well as 2 7940s. They all register no problem, make and receive calls, etc. Ive come across an issue that only applies to the 7965s.

I cant park calls. On the 7940s, I have a softkey for blind transfer, & using that, they park calls no problem. On the 7965s, there is no option for blind transfer, only attended transfer, so the system thinks im just phoning the parking lot.

Has anyone found a way around this?

So, when used with 3CX (SIP firmware), the behaviour is not the same, as posted in the phones manual?

Transfer a Call

To transfer a selected call to another number, you can use blind transfer or consultative transfer:

Blind Transfer Immediately redirects the call without allowing you to speak to
the transfer recipient (the person to whom you are transferring the call).

To make a blind transfer call, use the following method:

1.During a call, press the Tr n s f e r soft key. The call is placed on hold.
2.Dial the number to which you want to transfer the call. Consultative Transfer
Redirects the call after first allowing you to speak to the transfer recipient.

To make a consultative transfer, use the following method:

1.During a call, press the Tr n s f e r
soft key. The call is placed on hold.
2.Dial the number to which you want to transfer the call.
3.Wait for the call to be answered. Speak to the transfer recipient. Then press the Trn sf e r
button or hang up the handset.
4.If the transfer fails, press the Resume
soft key to return to the original call.

I’ve tried what you are describing, but it doesn’t seem to work. I press the transfer softkey, it places the call on hold and presents me the dial tone. At this point, I no longer have my transfer softkey available until the call connects. When I dial *00 I just get a fast busy tone. I’ve tried customizing the softkeys via the config files but I can’t seem to get it to work. Perhaps its picking up the park code too quick because of my dial plan..

Hello @JustinMH

Please note these devices are not supported so we cannot guarantee the correct functionality. Even for the phones in the 79 series that are listed as legacy devices transfers are listed as known limitations. You can read the full list of limitations here: https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/cisco-7940g-7960g/
I would recommend using a fully supported device to take advantage of the full functionality of the PBX.

I understand that my devices are not listed as supported, however, this is the only issue I have with the 7965 models. The 7940 models are working perfectly, however, I didn’t use 3CX to provision them, I wrote the configuration myself. I’m just hoping there might be a way around this one issue

You might want to make use of Wireshark, to see the difference between the two models, when a transfer occurs. That might provide a clue as to what changes, or additions, could be made to the configuration file. Someone, on another forum may have gone through this all of when trying to get transfer to work, using SIP firmware, on another PBX, such as Asterisk. You may not have to re-invent the wheel after all.

Parking calls on the 7940s works simply because there’s a transfer softkey as well as a blind transfer softkey. The 7965s only has a transfer softkey which always does an attendee transfer. I’ve successfully configured the softkeys using a softkey XML document, but there doesn’t appear to be an option to add blind transfer

I guess the 7965 is a colour version of the 7961. Thanks for the info. I’m going to persist on trying to figure out a way
