The picture is showing the line keys as "green".

It appears that each line has been configured as an extension, in fact the same extension. The green indicator is telling you that the line/extension is registered. If not, then the color would be "orange". As a result, the green indication is fine.

Not knowing what the concern is, I am guessing that it is that each line is configured as the same extension. To modify this you will need to either go into the phone's web interface and set according to the desire (remember to turn off auto-provisioning as well) or modify the Cisco templates within 3CX.

The phone defaults all line keys to line 1 or extension 1 settings. 3CX cannot make a custom template for each make and model which is why they have the generic phone provisioning page.....which assumes a need for only 1 extension.

BUT, 3CX 12.5 does have a provisioning template for each phone. But it's next to useless.

The big issue for me is that my SPA509Gs all have SPA500 sidecars, so there is a very distracting green glow in the offices now. In 3CX you can only edit the buttons on the side car, so it renders all 12 lines on the Cisco useless unless each phone is edited in GUI.

Does anyone know if there a tutorial anywhere for editing these templates, or is this going to be a trial-and-error thing?

are you trying to turn the lights off?

As 3CX supports a variety of makes and models, it is not really feasible for them to customize a template for each. This is why they have a generic template whose look and feel is the same for all models. In the base template, they assume that there will only be one account.

Your 509 can support up to 12 accounts or alternatively the keys can be programmed for other functions. The sidecar is a somewhat different issue as it can only be used for functions and not accounts. You can manually provision the phones or -
While I am not aware of a tutorial, you might check YouTube. Your other option is to look at the existing template and see how structured and then make modifications by making changes using the 3CX provisioning screen and seeing how it impacts a configuration file. You can then get a feel for what is happening and then copy the desired syntax into the needed fields (with the appropriate changes for the extension, button number, etc.)

You will then have to make future changes in the manner as it will still not show in the 3CX screens and before updating templates, you need to ensure that you save off a copy of your master so that you can then replace or modify to the new if needed.

A search of the forum or blog may also prove helpful.
