Hi,

Right now we use on premises SBC for our new PBX but we are looking to making it to a cloud-based SBC instead. Is that possible on Azure or AWS? Any documentation that can help me out or tips.

You don't necessarily have to host the SBC on the same platforms as such you could host elsewhere and simply route traffic to the device like a proxy server or just build a SIP trunk to it.

With that being said if you want to host on the same platforms just find an SBC supported on Windows or Linux and host on an instance.

Just a note, Patton electronics now provide software SBC's which you might be a good option.

the point of using the 3CX SBC is that manages one connection for multiple local phones to your PBX and with this solves firewall traversal issues.

Moving the SBC in the cloud brings back all the local issues of your endpoints connecting to it. Or in other words, you could then also run all phone in stun mode and leave the SBC altogether.

If the SBC should be placed in front of the PBX for security reasons, then this is a different topic

@StefanW don't get me wrong, I am not slating the 3CX SBC (I think it is a fantastic bit of software) I am simply answering the query regarding SBC's hosted in the cloud/virtual environments.

What would be nice however would be more monitoring, information gathering and reporting from the device, but if the v16 launch video is anything to go by this (as well as higher capacity) is coming in the not too distant future.
