Hi

to make it easier for my staff is there a problem to use a cname pointing to my fqdn? ex: phone.mydomian.com. pointing to mydomain.3cx.pt

Thanks

You need to setup your system with a custom FQDN and custom SSL certificate.

You cannot just do a CNAME, you'll get SSL errors as the 3CX FQDN only is secured by the automatic Let's Encrypt (which doesn't work with custom FQDN either.)

Thanks for the reply. Even using Cloudflare end to end encryption?

You can do a 301 redirect to the correct URL. Yes on cloudflare you can set it up as a redirect rule.

So cloudflare will have it's own valid SSL for the custom domain. Your browser goes to that address and cloudflares server will issue a very tiny https result telling the browser to redirect to the 3cx domain. The browser will reload the page to the new URL with the correct address with a matching SSL.

A simple CNAM DNS entry however will not work as the name of the server will not match the SSL certificate or any of the alternative names in the certificate. You must use the redirect method, but far easier than managing a custom certificate on 3cx.

Note that a 301 redirect does not work for SIP devices (SIP Protocol) :-)
